Holiday Lighting in Maryland for Ramadan

The homeowner requested white lighting around his home, which our company was able to do just in time for their religious holiday.

Christmas Lights In The Snow

All of us at Christmas Decor by Hallco want to thank all of our lighting customers for another great season. We ended up with close to 50 displays this year in cities such as Gaithersburg, Potomac, Poolesville and Rockville and Columbia, Ellicott City and Highland. We even did a few lighting jobs in Virginia, D.C. and PA.

We have now moved from installing lights and garland to servicing all of your displays. We have our little elves flying all over Montgomery and Howard County in the evening thru Christmas checking your lighting display. Well, there is good news and bad news about my Christmas decorations.

The good news is that I truly outdid myself this year. The bad news is that I had to take them down after only two days. I had more people come screaming up to my house than ever. Great stories. But two things made me take it down. First, the cops advised me that it would cause traffic accidents as they almost wrecked when they drove by. Second, a 55 year old lady grabbed the ladder and almost killed herself putting it against my house and didn't realize it was fake until she climbed to the top (she was not happy). She was one of many people who attempted to do that. My yard couldn't take it either. I have more than a few tire tracks where people literally drove up my yard.

I think I made him too real this time . But it was fun while it lasted.

Christmas Decor and The Fisher House

The holiday season is a festive and fun time for most Americans. It is also a hard time for families who have loved ones in harm's way. The United States Armed Forces are protecting the American people as we enjoy this holiday season. Many of our Service men and women will be spending their time in a foreign country or at a VA hospital due to injury or sickness. This is where the Fisher House Foundation has stepped in to help. They have been providing completely free housing to military families since 1990. Families of men and women in the military can be close to their son or daughter while they stay at a VA hospital by living in a "Fisher House." Every VA hospital in the United States has at least 1 Fisher House. Currently, the Fisher House serves more than 10,000 military families and has over 3 million days of lodging!

This year, Christmas Decor by Hallco is excited to participate in decorating two of the Fisher Houses located next to the Walter Reed Medical Center, in Washington D.C. We will be providing all of the lighting, decorations and labor to help cheer up our military families in our area. Last year, the Walter Reed Medical Center was trying to work with a company to decorate their medical center for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but because of budget constraints, they were not able to pull it off. Christmas Decor by Hallco was called up to provide some decorating ideas and cost last year, and we saw first hand just how excited the faculty and soldiers were about the possibility of Christmas decorations. Christmas Lights at Highland Crossing

Tomorrow, November 17th, Christmas Decor by Hallco will begin the installation of several thousand, energy-efficient LED lights at the Highland Crossing shopping center. This is the first year Highland Crossing has had Christmas Decor assist in their decorating for Christmas, and they are very excited. Highland Crossing is located just a few miles west of Clarksville, Maryland off of 108.

We will be lighting up the roof-tops of all 6 of their buildings, so stop by and take a look! The LED C-9 bulbs we are using use only 15% of the electricity that your typical non-LED lights do.

July Update on Residential Forum & Christmas Decor

Hallco Enterprises is still painting homes in July but is also traveling the country! David Chism, our estimator, just returned from a 4 day trip to Portland, OR for the 10th annual Advanced Shop Talk (AST) of the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America's Residential Forum. This years event featured a "shop hop" where 50+ professional painters were able to tour a member's painting office and shop. They also spend some time touring the Purdy Paint brush factory and a local paint manufacturer. They got to see first hand how paint is made! The actual conference was Friday and Saturday and discussed many different avenues of how to run a successful house painting business from websites and marketing to hiring the right people and training techniques. The conference took place in downtown Portland and The NINES hotel. David Chism is a current board member of the Residential forum and took an active role this year in being a presenter. David had two prepared presentations on website design and estimating techniques. He also assisted a group discussion on using the latest in technology in your paint company.

As David was wrapping up his time in Portland, our owner, Ted Hall, was flying to the west coast too. Ted and Karin Hall will be attending the national Christmas Decor conference in Reno, NV this week. This is the annual event to help all the Christmas Decor companies around the U.S. gear up for this years displays, learn about any new products and receive any additional training.
